Slow news day

It was a slow news day in the Walker house. No exciting schooling activities to report. Just the usual reading about trains, playing with trains and a little more TV watching than I'd like to admit, which also involved trains. Thomas watched Misty Island Rescue today on Netflix for about the 20th time. Once I put my foot down and turned off the TV he decided to act out the movie with his toy trains. He was particularly proud of the "Shake Shake Bridge" he built and asked me to take this picture.

At reading time we mostly read "just for fun" books. Two of the Thomas and Friends books we had checked out before (our library has a limited selection of Thomas) but Valentine's Day in Vicarstown was a new one for us. Nevermind the fact that Valentine's Day was two months ago. I'll have to remember this one next year and make sure to check it out a few weeks ahead of time before someone else gets it.

Thomas read Lots of Pots to me again. This is the one I was talking about earlier in the week. The whole book consists of 12 words used in different combinations. I wasn't sure if he was actually reading or just remembering the story from last time. Either way it is really cool to see him interested in reading on his own!

I think I enjoyed this book, Color Chaos!, more than the boys did. The storyline was a little weak but the illustrations were fun to look at. Thomas identified the color wheel and primary and secondary colors. It's amazing the things he remembers!
