High Museum - Paper Bag Puppet

Every Thursday is "Toddler Thursday" at the High Museum. They have story time in the gallery near a featured piece of art. Then the kids get to create their own artwork. We usually go with our playgroup/homeschool group. Today it was just me and the boys. It's fun to go with our friends but I think we got a lot more out of it today because we were able to go at our own pace and were not distracted by the other kids.

Of course we always ride the Marta train into the city whenever we can.

Here are the boys running up the ramp to the gallery to find today's featured sculpture.

Then we headed back downstairs for some arts and crafts.

The boys each made a puppet out of a paper bag. Here is Jacob showing off his "monster in my house."

After a quick picnic lunch on the lawn we went back inside to Family Learning Gallery. Thomas went straight to the giant foam blocks and started building a house.

Jacob played with the magnet wall, then blocks, then the puppets.

They have a reading area with a bunch of books related to art. Thomas, Jacob, and their new friend Eden let me read a couple of books to them. By the end, two more families had joined us and we had our own little story time. We read Babar's Book of Color and Lines that Wiggle.
