First Day of Classical Conversations

We finally got to take a "first day of school" photo that was not set in our own living room.

Today was our first day of school in a real classroom. I say 'our' because this school is not just for the kids. This is a homeschool school called Classical Conversations, or CC for short. We meet with other homeschooling families once a week and all the moms go to class with their kids. We have one main tutor that has received extra training on this specific curriculum but all the moms help out. The rest of the week we continue doing our own work at home as usual. It really is more of a community group than a true school but the kids get a little taste of what a classroom is like along with some all important socialization. This is Jacob's class and their tutor, Miss Jamie.

Each week we do a hands-on science experiment. Today we dissected a lima bean to learn about the parts. I loved that we were able to take the kids outside for class on such a beautiful day.

The art lesson was all about different types of lines. Circles, straight line, dot, angle, curves.

Then we also copied a picture using a grid as a guide.
