Our hands-on exercise for today was measuring salt to compare ounces to pounds. The boys took turns pouring salt into a baggie on my kitchen scale. We counted up the ounces until we got to 15.9 then it changed over to 1 pound. It sounded like a New Year's Eve countdown! This is proof yet again that homeschooling does not have to be expensive.
Then they held the two baggies side by side to compare the weight in their hands.
After that Jacob did a worksheet that asked him to choose the correct weight of common objects. The other side was a word problem related to pounds.
Thomas watched and listened to us talking about pounds and ounces but his worksheet was about counting/writing three digit numbers in sequence. This was very easy for him so I know he is ready to move on.

We read about Moses and the Exodus. I used our picture bible to give them an overview and so that they could visualize the story. Then I read them the section about the Ten Commandments in more detail from another children's bible we checked out from the library. We will be memorizing the Ten Commandments this week and next week with Classical Conversations.
