Math Manipulatives

We had fun today playing with math manipulatives. Thomas counted out blocks and matched them to numeral cards while Jacob sorted pom-poms. Later they played together on starfall.com... If you haven't noticed from previous posts, it seems like the boys do their best work in their underwear!

We got some bad news today that will take us on a last minute trip to Arkansas for a funeral. Despite the sad circumstances, I am excited for the opportunity to turn this into an educational road trip. I printed some Arkansas themed coloring pages and maps. Kroger had Crayola brand products on sale buy-one-get-one-free, so I bought the boys each a new set of markers for the trip.

Since we won't be home tomorrow I went to the library a day early. I managed to find three new train books that we haven't seen before and I also got a math book to continue building on Thomas's recent interest in addition.

The library had several books about Arkansas but most had a lot of words and not a lot of pictures so I just picked one - How to Draw Arkansas's Sights and Symbols. I know we will be seeing a lot of farm land on our trip so I found a couple books about farm communities and machines. We read all three of these books before bed to get us ready for tomorrow.
