Light Day

Today was a light day for us. We got done quickly so we could go to the pool this afternoon.

We started with handwriting again. This has been working well for us so I think I will continue doing handwriting first thing in the morning. They don't need any help from me so they can do that while I make breakfast.

They were copying commandments 6-10 again. Thomas asked if we could listen to the Ten Commandments song while they wrote. Then that led into the Timeline Song so we reviewed that next. Later, during break, I found Thomas listening to his CC memory work on his iPod and singing along.

Math:
Thomas continued working with place value and rounding.

Jacob used Unifix cubes to help him do a worksheet with multi-part addition and subtraction. Math is not his strongest subject but I could definitely see a couple of lightbulb moments today when he had all the blocks laid out in front of him. He is starting to connect the physical amounts to numerical concepts. It is so fun to watch.

Art:
We read and discussed the book Lines

History:
I read aloud a couple chapters of Story of the World about Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Isralites.
