Counting Money

We start off almost every Monday morning with the boys counting their money and reviewing their savings goals.

Thomas has been trying to collect one of each denomination. He is getting pretty close.

Then we get into the memory work. Today we put up the next set of timeline cards and sang the song.

Math:
After we reviewed our memory work the boys started on their math worksheets. Jacob is practicing counting and writing the numbers up to 50.

Thomas is reviewing two digit addition and subtraction.

The exercise ball was just too tempting. Thomas thought he could be more productive if he could "exercise" while he did his school work. This kid cannot sit still!

Phonics:
We reviewed the "super silent e" rules. Adding e to the end of a word changes the vowel in the middle from a short sound to a long sound. Everything is more fun when they get to write on the white board.

History/Geography:
I read aloud to the boys about the seven wonders of the Ancient World while Jacob tried to build a pyramid out of construction paper.

For handwriting practice they traced The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World in cursive. Then did a little drawing exercise.

Which led to coloring pictures about Ancient Egypt.

Presentations:
Thomas chose to research bees for his presentation this week. He read two pages out of our Animals book and drew a picture.

Jacob found a coloring page about ziggurats and wanted to learn more so that is what he is planning for his presentation.
