We tried something new today. We took all of our school work to the library. It has been raining for several days so we have barely left the house. I thought a change of scenery would help. While the boys worked on their handwriting and math, I walked around and picked out books for history and science. In history we are learning about the ancient Roman empire. In science we are learning about invertebrates. I also found a few books about the White House for the boys to use in researching their presentations this week.
Handwriting:
Our history sentence again:
Math:
Thomas is doing drills on three digit addition and subtraction.
Jacob is practicing greater than, less than, and equal to. I thought the greater than and less than symbols (> and <) would be new to him but he already knew what to do and blew right though this.
Reading:
After I read to them a little out of our research books I let the boys each pick a book to read to me. Jacob chose this board book full of opposite words.
Thomas chose this book with the same word repeated on every page - faster.
So I made him pick another book. This was a great one for him. The main character says "no" over and over again until he realizes he is missing out on some fun stuff and then starts saying "yes" more. Thomas immediately said that sounded like himself.
