More Nerf Guns

We had so much fun with Nerf gun review yesterday that we had to do it again today.

Math:
Thomas finished up the section on place value and took the test.

Jacob did another page of counting up to 20 and took his first test.

Phonics:
We learned the sounds -ing, -ang, -ung, and -ong

Science:
We did a crossword puzzle on the parts of a cell. So far we have only covered animal cells so I let them leave a few of the answers blank. We will come back and fill in the rest of the answers next week when we are covering plant cells.

Public Speaking:
Every week the boys have to stand up in front of their class and give a short presentation on any topic they choose. Thomas has been planning his topic for a while. We chose several pictures from our summer vacation and had them printed last week. Today Thomas arranged them all in a photo album and practiced talking about them.

Jacob, being Jacob, just randomly chose a topic today that he will present tomorrow. He chose elephants. We look up elephants in our animal book and wrote down a few facts. Then I helped him make a play dough sculpture of an elephant.

History:
This evening we had to drive across town to run an errand. While we were in the car we listened to several chapters of Story of the World on CD. The stories all had to do with Sumerians, Babylonians, Israelites, and early Greece. Every time the boys heard something that related to our timeline or the places we have talked about in geography they got really excited.
