Introducing CC Week 4

First thing we did today was update our memory wall with work for week 4. We've been practicing the facts and listening to the songs on my iPad all week but today we printed the pages to go up on the board.

We have a dry erase calendar on the board we use to remind us of what we want to accomplish and help keep us on track throughout the day. The boys, Thomas especially, like to erase things off the list as we finish them.

Handwriting:
Writing about the seven wonders of the ancient world in cursive.

Geography:
Hittite Empire (present day Turkey). We found it on our map and read about the Hittite Empire in our history encyclopedia.

Math:
Jacob is writing numbers up to 100

Thomas did several drill pages 2 digit addition and subtraction but when he saw that Jacob was making a hundred board he wanted to, too.

Science:
Parts of a plant cell. Last week we learned about parts of an animal cell. Today we just reviewed those and added a couple more that are specific to plants.

PE:
The boys were watching me do step aerobics and Jacob wanted to try it out. Then we did a little core workout with the exercise ball.

Thomas just wanted to do situps.

Arts and Crafts:
Last week I bought a pack of popsicle sticks on a whim, with no real project in mind. The boys saw them them today and begged me to open them. Next thing I know they had each built a raft for their lego men and Jacob made a puppet.

Presentations:
They practiced reading their presentations a few more times.
