Even though we don't meet with our CC community this week due to the Labor Day holiday I went ahead and introduced the week 3 memory work today. We have weeks 1 and 2 down and they were starting to get a little boring.
Science:
The subject we spent the most time on today was Science. We learned about some parts of an animal cell.
We
skimmed through a couple of library books and watched a few YouTube
videos to learn about the specific parts we are memorizing.
The boys' favorite part was making a cell out of lego pieces, of course.
Math:
We added skip counting by 5 and 6 to our memory work.
Thomas did another worksheet practicing rounding.
History:
We have to memorize a list of Greek and the equivalent Roman gods.
We read a few of the stories out of our Greek Mythology book. The boys both have their own music players filled with children's stories. Apparently a while ago I downloaded a bunch of mythology stories from Storynory and they have been listening to them because they already knew almost every story I read to them. They were adding details that this version left out and telling me how the stories were going to end.
Geography:
We added the Hebrew Empire to our memory work.
Then I read a few pages out of a library book about the Phoenicians and we found a few interesting YouTube videos about ancient Phoenicia and the first phonetic alphabet.
English:
We added a few more preposition words to our memory list.
Phonics/Reading:
Jacob read aloud a couple of pages from our phonics book. It was a review of consonant digraphs.
Thomas read Maggie's Ball
