Hundred Board

Grandma came over this afternoon for a visit. She and the boys had fun reading books and playing games.

Jacob is also doing very well on the computer. He played by himself, sounding out words, while Thomas and Grandma played his new math "game". This picture is so cool. It reminds me of the photos I've seen of a real Montessori classroom!

I got this idea from another blog. This a Montessori activity called the "Hundred Board". After seeing how well Thomas did with the calendar yesterday, I knew he was read for this one. I bought a sheet of small tiles from the hardware store and wrote each number from 0-100 in permanent marker. I also drew a 10 x 10 grid on a square of felt. The object of the game is to put all of the tiles on the grid in order. Later on we will use the numbers and grid for other activities like skip counting and multiplication.
